My Week

[unlisted] November 30, 2008 (updated February 10, 2018) by Noah
My blog thus far has very little of anything personal in its entries. This entry is going to change that, because I want to talk about what all has happened this week, and it's quite a story that I don't feel like repeating on a one-on-one basis with each person who wants to know.

Thus, if you don't care about my personal life, you don't have to read this. I'm writing this mainly for friends and family who want to know. :-P

I'll spare you the gory details and this entry will pretty much just cover the list of events of the last week. This website gets hit by over 100 unique visitors a day and I try to keep my personal thoughts off of it. So if this entry sounds impersonal and matter-of-factly, I did that on purpose.

So, this entry is about Serge, a cute Russian boy that I'm now dating. I'd known him more or less for the whole summer; we chatted online a lil bit and we had a couple of mutual friends already, but we didn't really keep in touch. We randomly ran into each other a few times while out clubbing in West Hollywood but that was just about it for a while.

Last Saturday night I was out in West Hollywood with one of my co-workers, and as the night was coming to an end I saw Serge out near The Abbey and said hi. So this was the first time we were able to actually have a real conversation in person, and we just instantly got along really quickly.

Then on Monday night after I got off work we went to have dinner at Santa Monica and went out onto the pier. It's been on my to-do list ever since I moved to Los Angeles to see the Santa Monica pier, since it appears in SO many movies. But it was night time and I wanted to see it during the day, so it was still on my to-do list. On Tuesday we hung out again, this time at my apartment and I met one of his friends who also knew me from online (but I didn't quite remember who he was).

On Wednesday after work, Serge and I went to see the movie Twilight with his friend Vitaliy. It was a pretty good movie. :) After the movie Serge and I came back to my apartment. He had to work Thursday morning but it was too late and he didn't want to have to return home to Santa Monica that night, so we spent the night together. On Thursday we both had our cell phone alarms set for 8 AM; he just called in to work and told them he'd come in later, and we went back to sleep until noon. Then we got up and went to Santa Monica. His department at work was closed Thursday anyway but he was just on schedule to come in, so he went to work for 15 or 20 minutes to be able to say he was there. In the meantime I went out to see the pier again, this time in the daylight.

We met back up at the pier, then went to the Broadway Deli on the 3rd Street Promenade for breakfast. My HR director wanted to see the movie Milk and invited us along, so we went to his place and then went to the Arclight Hollywood theater. It was a pretty good movie too. After the movie, Serge and I went to The Grove, in the city of Los Angeles. It was highly decorated for the Christmas season, but most of the stores were closed on account of it being Thanksgiving Day. It was still pretty interesting. At one point there was an area outside where there was fake snow falling. It was made out of soapy water, but it looked really realistic. Like it seriously looked like snow falling, like back in Michigan. We got some pictures of us there and I looked at them later and I could swear we were in some colder climate where it actually snows. :-)

After that we went to Beverly Hills where we had a dinner reservation for Thanksgiving. It was a restaurant inside of an upscale hotel directly on Rodeo Drive and it was really nice. It was a whole four-course meal, with salad, soup, turkey dinner and some kind of apple pie with pumpkin-flavored ice cream for desert. (I didn't even know that was a possible flavor of ice cream).

And then after that, we went to Club Tigerheat in West Hollywood, which happens every Thursday night and people had been wanting me to go but I'd never been. I only had one drink though because I had to drive and then I just had a Shirley Temple after that. I hadn't had one of those since I was like 12 at least. :-P And then I dropped him off and came home and that was the end of the busiest Thanksgiving day ever.

Oh yeah, and on Thursday we decided we're officially boyfriends now.

On Friday we hung out yet again, but there's not so much story to this day. We went out to dinner with some mutual friends of ours and hung out at my place for a while.

Tonight (Saturday) one of my co-workers is having a birthday party in downtown Culver City, and Serge and I are going to that. And then tomorrow we plan to go to the Griffith Observatory and then go hiking around a canyon somewhere around here that I can't remember the name of at the moment.

It's been such a busy week but I wouldn't trade it for anything. :-) Since I installed Fedora 10 on my PC on Tuesday, I haven't even had any free time to play around with it or find new ways to tweak and customize it. Like, I set up my webserver for noahpwns.com and set up my SSH certificate links and everything necessary like that, but beyond that I haven't been able to do very much of the stuff I usually do to my Linux machines. But it's cool anyway, so whatever. :-)

And that is the story about how my week has been going so far.
